Habitat:
Hoheria lyallii / Coprosma subalpina + Aciphylla glaucescens / Polystichum vestitum scrub on hillslope.
Notes:
Female plants with 1(-3) rosettes, 1(-3) spikes. Leaves glaucous green. Sap clear. Pulvinus at base of petiole strong. Some plants with whole leaf sheath above ground level. Female spikes 2440mm tall, stem 1000mm long, 75mm diameter, yellow brown at base, golden yellow above. Head 1440mm long, 480mm wide. Longest bract 210mm long, sheath 50mm long. Fruit ripe on highest altitude plants, fruit dispersed from heads on lowest altitude plants.
