Coastal rimu/broadleaved forest margin.
Notes:
Small tree about 3-4m high, young; habit semi-fastigate. Trunk smooth and pale grey. Bark on young shoots very tough. Leaves coriaceous; petiole dark dull purple; lamina very undulate, shining bright green above, whitish-green beneath. Young fruits erect, secund on raceme. Fairly common.
