Rhizomes creeping. Culms to c. 2 m high but mostly eradicated, flattened on alternate sides of internodes. Young culm (a small one only) and sheaths without sheath auricles and bristles. Leaves with prominent auricles and long bristles, at least on young shoots.Cultivation relic, now ± adventive.
