Habitat:
Cultivation relic by hedge in shade.
Notes:
Clump-forming grass with dense mat of thick rhizomes, not creeping. Leaves conspicuously plicate. Inflorescence of a solitary spike (only one present). Spikelets c.3mm long, purplish. Upper lemma and palea clasping, hard. Species normally paniculate but this plant presumably depauperate because of hostile conditions.
