Habitat:
Tussock-shrubland - bog just above silver beech treeline; in moist to wet peaty soil.
Notes:
Flowers white; plants variable in size. Small plants: longest leaf 5cm, scape 10-18cm; head 13-15mm. Large plants: longest leaf 10cm, scape 23-35cm; head 16-18mm. Leaves with moderately dense multicellular hairs on both surfaces, and a dense leaf margin line of frizzy cotton hairs upon multicellular hairs. Plant has no smell. Locally common.
