Subshrub c. 1 m high, young. Stems with tough bark. Leaves membranous. Corolla c. 6 cm long, bright yellow; petals 3.7-4.3 cm wide, strongly imbricate; base dark purple. Stigmas dark purple. Capsules c. 6 cm long, the 5 ribs obtuse. Raised from seed at Lincoln science Centre in New Zealand.
