On slope, subalpine scrub.
Notes:
Shrub c.1m high, with dense habit. Shoot and lower surface of leaves tawny yellow, upper leaf surface dark shining green. Capitula narrow cylindrical. Phyllaries deep pink or rose. Florets white. Abundant, but this plant with unusually deep pink phyllaries. (=C.vauvilliersii).
