Several aspects of growth. A. nodal roots and new stems, with short length of rhizome. B. Rhizomes showing new season's shoot (stems): to three or more stems at each node. C. Portions of rhizomes, showing nodes, dense felted roots: wiry nature. From top 12 inches of soil. D. basal and terminal parts of new stem growth. E. Portion of old stem with new season growth of lateral "twigs" from collars. Grid Reference M35 79- 41- transferred to the Remarks field as it may refer to a cultivation locality.
