Notes:
Succulent subshrub with monocarpic habit. "Trunk" c.30-40cm high, with few small lateral branches; annular ring scars dark, on a pale grey background. Leaves in terminal rosettes, either green with purple marginal areas or upper part of leaf completely dark purple. Specimen (b) has leaves totally purplish-black; cv. `Schwarzkopf'.
