Habitat:
Amongst riverside grass and willows.
Notes:
Small clump, with rhizomes running. Culms 1.5-2.5m high, dark green, with whitish nodes. Plants young and partly beneath deciduous tree. Sheaths greenish-brown, persistent. Leaves glaucescent beneath. Spikes dark purple. Adventive and fairly common.
