GM 49/18.Possibly Q. kelloggii as only other red oak in this chain is Q. rubra. Large dominant tree, finely textured bark. Leaves sl. shiny dark green on top, yellowish green under. ± leathery. Block 16 establ. 1891 Chain V.

Not Q. kelloggii; leaf bases mostly cuneate and not cordate → obtuse. Apical bud too small.
