The type of Ranunculus porrectus Simpson
These 3 sheets [CHR 48082, 48083, 48091] of cultivated material are likely to be derived from the type collection. The type specimen, said to be at CHR, has not been found there. However there is a specimen in AK (AK 22889) labelled as follows:
"Ranunculus porretus Simpson
Hope River Valley, G. Simp."
to which H.H. Allan had added "(Cotype)."
This has c. 3 fls per stem, achenes 25-30, body of achenes 2-2.5 mm, beak 0.8 mm, receptacle hairy. Lvs up to 3 cm broad, 3-lobed to almost ½-way, petioles long, appressed-hairy.
