Habitat:
Near road through inner makatea, forest margin.
Notes:
Small (young) tree 4-5m high. Bark smooth and light grey. Youngest shoots and leaves pale scurfy. Mature leaves dark and shining above. Flowers white, slightly fragrant. Petals 4-5 in number, 6-7mm long, oblong to oblanceolate. Petals subequal, soon falling and carpeting the ground beneath. Fruit young when collected, rusty brown and ± broadly obovoid. Scattered trees present but fairly common in this area of inner makatea, at least near the road.
