Open fernland near top of small valley; volcanic soil.
Notes:
Rhizomes creeping and fronds on erect stipes but the pinnae-bearing parts curving over to the horizontal or further, resulting in a dense growth through which nothing or little can grow. Stipes green; pinnae glaucous beneath. Many hectares solely covered by this "stag's horn fern".
