Cultivated as a hedge.
Notes:
Clump-Forming bamboo with stems to c.4m maximum; rhizomes creeping. Culm sheaths pinkish-mauve with dark blotches. Culms glaucous when young, soon green but eventually yellow in sun (or orange yellow). Branches 2 per node on the culms. Culms flattened on one side. Leaves glauescent below.
