Habitat:
Steep slope of loess, with Argyranthemum scrub. Wild
Notes:
Succulent arborescent shrub with stems c.1m high and many branches; trunk to c.4cm thick at base; otherwise c.1cm thick with numerous brown lozenge-shaped scars. Lvs in terminal rosettes; those of side branches smaller and to c.9cm across; rosettes not flat. Lvs to c.6x2cm, ± oblanceolate 2-3mm thick, green, flat; margins green; apex apiculate. Infl ± ovoid, to 14x8cm, bracts shed at this stage (past maximum flowering) infl. branches & calyx glandular-puberulent. Calyx lobes c. 1.7x 1.2mm, triangular. Petals 9-11 in no., 6.5-7x1.7-2mm, linear-oblong or linear-lanceolate, golden. Stamens 3-4.5mm long, ±rectangular-cuneate Carpels yellow. Fairly common; ie the true A. arboreum
