Cliff top on edge of "Macaronesian scrub".
Notes:
Common over a few square metres. Arborescent, glabrous, succulent with main "trunk" c. 75 cm high and a number of lateral branches ending in lateral rosettes (sometimes several) to c. 12 cm across. Trunk c. 1.5 cm diam. Leaves to 11.5 x 3.3 cm., c. 3mm thick. ± flat, green, including the ciliate margins, ± spathulate, acute to ± apiculate. Infls. to c. 17 × 15 cm, broadly ovoid-triangular with ± rounded top, almost at full anthesis when collected; bracts still present and green. Calyx lobes c. 3-3.5 mm ± triangular - lanceolate. Petals 10 in number, 9 -10 × 2 -2.5 mm, pale yellow, ± linear - lanceolate or linear - elliptic. Stamens 7.5 - 9 mm long, pale yellow. Styles 3 - 4 mm, greenish white. Scales c. 0.8 mm long, broadly rectangular -cuneate, erose, whitish - translucent.
