To J.C. [Child J]: Fruit is said to be rare. I have found unripe fruit in late Autumn. It matures in the Winter.- In agreement with both Dixon & Sainsbury, the seta is smooth but here theoperculum is conical & relatively short, not beaked & elongate as Sainsbury describes it - more like Brachythecium. Spores about 15 - 20 μm.
