Habitat:
Low slpine snow-tussock and herbfield with boggy areas and stream gorge cut in greywacke bedrock, west exposure
Microhabitat:
irrigated greywake on W-facing flush dominated by Schoenus pauciflorus + Campylium stellatum. Other species present include Celmisia bellidiodes, Euphrasia petriei, Hebe pauciramosa, Blindia magellanica.
Notes:
Bryophytes of New Zealandsterileplants very strongly pigmented - probably collected before new growth initiated
