Swamp. Open kahikatea/Coprosma tenuicaulis - slender trees, in water.
Notes:
Carex found on mossy bases of Kahikatea, among Carex gaudichaudiana and Bulbinella modesta. Ligh shade, peaty soil. Plants drawn up by shade of other veg. (Nowhere did I find "typical" tufted C. echinata - i.e. as seen in subalpine NI [North Island] swamps - even though there are prob. .100 ha [hectares] of open swamp in this site.)
