Forming dense broad depressed patches. Branches very short and crowded. Leaves radical 1/4 to 1/2 inch long, obovate - spathulate, obtuse densely clothed with loose white cottony tomentum on both surfaces. Heads oblong terminal sessile or (rarely) pedunculate, Involucral scales in 3 series glabrous, shining the inner with white, not spreading tips. Receptacle very narrow, dotted. Female florets few in one series. pappus hairs slender. Achenes linear oblong sparsely pubescent.
