Specimen notes
Supplementary remarks:
Flagellate branches present; abaxial laminal papillae are generally not visible in thie material, however I have observed them on the abaxial surface of branch leaf cells from near the leaf apex of a FEW branch leaves. No markedly dimorphic leaves are present; branch leaves are either entire OR very weakly denticulate at apex; laminal cells are not porose, to my eye. In my opinion confident distinction between Wijkia extenuata and Sematophyllum subhumile var contiguum is often not possible, with herbarium specimens from K particularly troublesome; I have seen no "representative" Wijkia extenuata from the Kermadecs. This specimen examplifies the difficult [difficulty] in making the distinction.
