Supplementary remarks:
Carex pumila Thunb. var. macrocarpa Carse Habitat description on this label "In damp hollow in dunes”, matches the protologue "In damp hollows, among sand-dunes", whereas WELT 21365 (cited by Edgar, Fl. New Zealand 2: 270 (1976)) says "In sand almost covered, Tanu Tanu Creek" and the collection date is 1914 or 1917, but probably not 1915 (Carse read his paper in December 1915), and so appears to be different gatherings.
