Herbarium history:
Mount Cook Nationat Park Herbarium, No. 1270
Supplementary remarks:
"1270 is a Gaultheria crassa × Pernettya (probably nana ?) hybrid, a fairly common one found beyond the limits of P. nana. Stable hybrids are not uncommon and if widespread geographically could merit specific status, but this is a job for someone more of a botanist than I am."
Dudley Franklin, 15/5/1972
