Kauri/hardwood forest.
Notes:
Yellow flowered. Probably M. aurata Col. Specimen fruiting. At least three separate mature plants were seen, about 30 feet apart, in a kauri - hardwood community at ridge-top just on the east side of the Thumb Track at 650 feet altitude. All plants were vigorous and healthy. One was ascendent on maire (25') and the others on rewarewa (35' and 20').
