I take all these to be Notospartium carmichaeliaeIn all the wings are decidedly shorter than the keel. The calyx and pedicels may be pubescent or glabrous: this is quite a varied feature. Mr Aston considered his specimens to be N. torulosum, but if so Kirks description is quite wrong.

Specimens [CHR] 11809 - 11811 are portions of the material on which D. Petrie based his new species N. glabrescens. T.N.Z.I. Vol 53- 1921- 365. cf notes on pages 367 & 368 of same volume. Specimen [CHR] 11810 is included under N. carmichaeliae by D. Petrie. T.N.Z.I. Vol. 53-1921-p368.
Supplementary remarks:
CHR 11809, CHR 11810, CHR 11811 are NOT TYPE MATERIAL. Lectotype of Notospartium glabrescens Petrie designated by P.B. Heenan, New Zealand J. Bot. 33: 452 (1995) is G. Stevenson 1914, WELT 26868.
